Personal Philosophy: It is my belief that no one is too old or too young for therapy and no problem is too big or too small.  I believe the potential for positive growth and change is within each person and therapy is simply a helpful avenue to reach these.  Therapy is a personal endeavor therefore I focus on the individual needs of each client throughout the treatment process.  This process is a mutual one between the counselor and client; therefore I encourage active participation by the client throughout treatment.  This active participation along with commitment to change can lead to positive growth and personal change.  My approach to therapy is rooted in identifying the client’s strengths and using these as a springboard for growth.  Whether by educating a client in new coping skills, identifying the client’s current thought processes and how they are affecting the client’s self and world view, or simply by being an objective listening ear, it is my desire to provide the support, hope, and tools necessary to meet goals built around meaningful growth and change.

Clinical Focus: While my practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, I have a passion for children and adolescents struggling to maneuver through this thing called life.  I believe play and art can be powerful therapeutic tools and enjoy incorporating these in my work with children and adolescents.  I have also truly come to understand the power of family as a catalyst for meaningful growth and change.  I enjoy working with clients of all ages dealing with depression, anxiety, abuse, anger management, social concerns, adjustment difficulties, stress management, identity struggles, low self-esteem, eating disorders, grief and loss, divorce, family conflict, parenting, drug and alcohol abuse, or self-mutilation.

Academic/Professional: I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University.  I then pursued a Masters degree in counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary.  Upon graduation, I worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. I have worked extensively in the areas of grief and loss, anger management, and drug and alcohol abuse in adolescents.  I am currently licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern.

Personal Interests: I moved with my family to The Woodlands at the age of five and can’t underestimate the impact this community has had on my development.  I consider myself blessed to currently live near my parents and many close childhood friends.  Relationships are important to me therefore one of my favorite activities is spending time with these loved ones.  I also enjoy reading, traveling, cooking, and, while my recent attempt at gardening did not pan out well for the plants, I thoroughly enjoy trying.
