Clinical Focus: My clinical focus is one that provides awareness of how an individual responds to, and functions within their environment. This approach incorporates marital, family, individual, and group therapies with adults, teens and children, working toward improving personal relationships at home, work, and school. My interests are varied and include--Marital and relationship problems; Mood Problems; Women's issues: infertility, post-partum and menopausal depression; Existential Conflicts; Parenting skills and the development of behavioral-management programs to assist families and teachers in optimizing behavioral and learning conditions at home and school; ADHD Assessment; Anxiety in both children and adults; EMDR therapy, Self-esteem building, Assertiveness and Socialization skills.
Treatment Philosophy: My treatment philosophy is a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, which incorporates a teaching paradigm that helps clients with problem-solving strategies and coping skills for working through depression, fear, grief, anxieties, and many other conflicts. Sessions emphasize the understanding and modification of patterns of thinking and behavior. While working together to explore the psychological issues underlying the problem, I enjoy teaching more effective communication with partners/spouses, children, parents, families, peers, and colleagues.
Personal Interests: Happily married for 30 years, Steve and I have four children, one of them still in college-Whoa! Having been raised in a large Italian family, I enjoy anything that has to do with my family being together, especially trips, board games and all the great discussions around the dinner table. While our children are discovering their own paths in life, I am rediscovering my own joys and find myself returning to passions I once held dear i.e. playing classical piano, reading, listening to my music, going to movies, cooking, finding great restaurants, going on dates and traveling with Steve, and just being with friends.
