Professional Background: I received a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Arizona School of Professional Psychology, Argosy University. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Los Andes (Bogota, Colombia). I was previously working in Singapore where I had my own private practice for several years “New Beginnings, Counseling for a Better Life”. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern for the State of Texas, a Therapist at the Woodlands Family Institute, and a School Counselor at St. Edward Catholic School in Spring, Tx.
Treatment Philosophy: As a therapist I believe that I am being invited into my client’s life, to walk along, and to help relieve suffering while finding alternative ways to happier and more fulfilled life. I will shed light, knowledge, care and support through a journey the client has come to share with me. No one but the client is able to change the path, the attitude or the choices that have been or will be made, this is truly and individual quest. I will do the best to my abilities in understanding and guiding my clients during therapy. I have a special interest in family dynamics and how they play a role in the client’s life. I keep in mind the environment and cultural beliefs the client brings into therapy and have an utmost respect for it.
Clinical Focus: I enjoy working with a variety of clinical issues which include relationship issues, school problems, parenting, stress, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, grief resolution and adjustment/relocation problems.
Interests: I am in my early 40’s and I have a beautiful family with three young children ages 2, 5, and 8. My personal interests are reading, art, and enjoying life with my husband and children. We love to embark in adventure travels everywhere we go and learn as much as we can from every culture we have visited or lived in. I am curious about human connections and cultural exchange, from the depths of the Colombian Amazon, to the mountains of Thailand and to the busy streets of American life. I enjoy hiking, mountain bike riding, golf and essentially living my life to its fullest potential. I am passionate about learning something new every day and I embrace change as a part of growing. Besides my academic training, my personal experience is what I bring into therapy with an emphasis on self-growth and knowledge on human nature.
Counseling in Spanish is also provided at client’s request.
